How to Download Interest Certificate from Banks for ITR Filing (SBI, HDFC, ICICI & More)

Why This Is Trending:
To claim interest income and deductions (like under 80TTA/80TTB), taxpayers need their bank interest certificates. But most don’t know where to download them — especially across multiple banks.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to download your annual interest certificate from top Indian banks.

1. Why You Need the Interest Certificate

  • It shows total interest earned on savings and FDs during FY 2024–25
  • Helps report income in ITR under “Income from Other Sources”
  • Also needed to claim deductions under:
    • Section 80TTA (₹10,000 on savings interest for regular taxpayers)
    • Section 80TTB (₹50,000 for senior citizens on FD + savings interest)

2. Where to Show Interest in ITR

  • Go to “Income from Other Sources” section
  • Enter gross interest earned (even if TDS already deducted)
  • Claim 80TTA/80TTB separately under Chapter VI-A

3. How to Download Interest Certificate from Major Banks

SBI

  • Login to onlinesbi.com
  • Go to: My Accounts > ‘Interest Certificate (SB/TD)’
  • Select FY 2024–25 → Download as PDF

HDFC Bank

  • Login to netbanking.hdfcbank.com
  • Go to: Accounts → Request → Download Interest Certificate
  • Choose savings or FD → Select period → Download

ICICI Bank

  • Login to icicibank.com
  • Navigate to ‘Information > Interest Certificate’ under deposits
  • Choose financial year and download

Axis Bank

  • Login to internet banking
  • Go to Services > Tax Services > Interest Certificate
  • Choose savings/term deposit → Download FY-wise

4. What If the Bank Doesn’t Offer Online Download?

  • Call customer care
  • Or visit the branch and request a printed certificate
  • Most banks now offer these in-app (SBI YONO, HDFC App, etc.)

Pro Tip:
Compare interest reported in AIS (Annual Info Statement) with certificates — banks sometimes miss reporting FDs, which can cause mismatch notices.
